During the initial stages of building design EEA technical staff conducts energy modeling of the proposed design to predict, analyze and evaluate key metrics that are vital to achieving performance goals. Our staff is highly experienced in using a range of state of the art modeling tools and our toolkit is constantly growing as we add cutting edge software to our repertoire.

Energy Code Compliance

EEA technical staff is well versed in the applicable local building codes and provides energy code compliance through modeling. Code requirements are updated every few years to improve construction standards and building performance and our team is on top of the changing requirements to ensure compliance.

Energy Audits

In an effort to identify ways to improve the performance of existing buildings, our engineers perform comprehensive energy audits that include:

  • Building and utility data analysis
  • Conduct detailed on-site survey
  • Evaluate and assess energy saving measures and their impact on whole-house performance
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis and determine payback period for measures
  • Recommend products and technologies best suited to the project

Commissioning & Code Inspections

Commissioning

Commissioning has become a key factor in ensuring that a building’s mechanical systems perform as per the project goals and objectives. The commissioning process of achieving, verifying and documenting the performance of building systems in accordance with the design intent and the client’s functional and operational needs help provide the quality assurance needed for the building’s continued high performance. EEA’s commissioning group provides testing, maintenance instruction/training, design review and documentation services for a wide variety of project types.

Our team provides commissioning services in accordance with the NYCECC requirements, LEED program and other industry standards. The advantages of commissioning include improved equipment maintenance and function, cost savings, and improved occupant comfort.

TR1 and TR8 Inspections

New York City requires special inspections for all materials, equipment, installation, fabrication, erection or placement of components and connections to verify that construction work is being done in accordance with the code, approved plans, and specifications. Special Inspections must be performed by qualified Special Inspectors on behalf of a Special Inspection Agency. ECIS is a Special Inspection Agency and provides the following inspection services as required under the New York City Energy Conservation Code:

Solar Renewable Energy System Design

EEA provides Solar Renewable Energy System Design services to projects that are focused on generating renewable energy on-site to offset energy consumption of the building. EEA conducts feasibility analysis to determine the potential for solar system installation on the roofs of projects, following which the team develops solar panel payouts that include detailed investigation, economic analysis, and solar system design including circuit layouts.
